I'm so excited about the upcoming market season. Last year, my very first market was the Etsy Made in Canada market which was held at the Ellis Art Studios in Kelowna. Brazen, who owns the studio, and the rest of the artists were so incredibly welcoming and kind. I was full of nerves and I really had no idea what the day would be like for me. The event pushed me into the market scene though and I was able to attend a couple this year and I have a few more written down to apply for next year as well.
The Etsy market last year turned out to be a day full of learning experiences for me but I'm so grateful to have been selected to be a part of the event. This year, I'll be returning to this event which will be taking place on September 30th and Ellis Art Studios will be hosting it again this year. I cannot wait to return to this event for a second time. You can find out all the details of the event on the event page on Facebook.
The second event I will be attending is hosted by Okanagan Makers at the Penticton Convention Center for the whole weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday on November 4th and 5th. This is the first time I will be attending this event so I'm a bit nervous about it, though I always am when I attend a new event I've never been a part of before. It's also the first 'out of town' event I'll be attending, so it's definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone that is Kelowna. Thankfully two of my friends will be tagging along (one on each day) to keep me company and help out at the booth with me. More event details can be found on their Facebook event page as well.
The third major market I will be showing up at is the Craft Culture Winter market. They hold two major markets a year and I did the 'should I or shouldn't I' debate with myself during the spring application time that I ended up missing out and regretting that I didn't just go for it. Lucky for me though, they opened up applications again after some last minute cancellations and even though the jewellery category was full, I applied anyway. My thought process was 'worst case scenario is that they say no', but at least I stopped doubting myself enough to apply - and I got in! It was a ton of fun (even though I was fighting a nasty head cold) and I met some amazing vendors. I'm so excited to have been selected to attend the winter market this year as well. It will be held at Prospera Place in Kelowna on December 9th and 10th. The Facebook event page isn't up yet, but you can see more details on their website.
I have applied for a couple other events, though applications have not yet closed. I will definitely keep you in the loop if any more markets pop up though and make sure you follow me on Facebook or Instagram as I may announce some specials for Christmas during one or two of these events!
